Full course description
This a prototype psychoeducational program that involves a 12-hour course with the aims of introducing family caregivers to the caregiving role, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to carry out that role and alerting them to self-care issues.
The Savvy Caregiver is a 12-hour training program delivered in 2-hour sessions over a 6-week period. Curriculum includes a detailed trainer’s manual, a caregiver manual, a training videotape, and a CD-ROM. There are additional versions as the program has been replicated and adopted to meet the needs of specific populations.
